Bequests and Planned Giving

Make a lasting difference in the lives of animals in need by including a charitable gift in your will or estate plans. A gift that will give back forever.

It was a generous bequest that allowed us to purchase the land on Clinton Street and Silk Farm Road – the site of our new home. Because of the generosity and planning of many over the past 100 years, the Pope Memorial SPCA remains a viable safety net and the last chance at hope and love for the most fragile animals in our community.

A bequest through your will or another planned gift will not only benefit the Pope Memorial SPCA and the animals we care for, but can also support your estate tax or financial goals. The planned gifts of the past helped to support our efforts of today and your gift of tomorrow will do the same for animals in need and future generations.

There are many ways that you can improve the lives of animals in need through a planned gift.  Please note, this information is not intended to be offered as legal advice. You should always consult with your attorney or trusted financial advisor in these matters.

All gifts, including bequests, can be made payable to:

Pope Memorial SPCA

A Bequest, Or Named Gift In Your Legal Will
By having a will, you not only get to name your beneficiaries you also control the amount and timing of those distributions. You may also choose the person to make distributions on your behalf. Please take the time to speak to your legal and/or financial advisor, and consider including a gift to the Pope Memorial SPCA.

Living Trusts, Charitable Trusts, Charitable Gift Annuities
By naming the Pope Memorial SPCA as the designated beneficiary of a trust, your gift will be distributed for the benefit of the animals without being held in probate. There are many types of trusts, some of which offer financial benefits immediately. Please take the time to speak to your legal and/or financial advisor, and consider naming the Pope Memorial SPCA as the beneficiary of a trust.

Named Beneficiary
If you would like to make a gift for the animals, and prefer to avoid legal/financial counsel, consider naming the Pope Memorial SPCA as the beneficiary of an IRA, 401k or life insurance policy. A simple designation, in whatever percentage you deem, is an easy way to include the care of animals in your legacy.
